When I first purchased my airbrush setup a couple of years ago I didn’t know if it would be something that would work with my other mediums. It’s quite a large expense; the paints, airbursh and the compressor. Although I have had my airbrush for a couple of years I have only used it for 3 or 4 portraits. That is mainly due to time and where I focus majority of my time to pet portraits I havent been able to experiment with it as I’d like.
At the end of the year I hope to have a few days where I can concentrate on a couple of wildlife pieces. I am currently on my honeymoon but have been designing some ideas I have in Photoshop. This portrait will be done entirely in acrylics and airbrush paint and and every single aspect of the painting has been inspired by all of my own reference photographs. There is something very rewarding about creating artwork that is entirely from your own photographs. I really have enjoyed creating something from scratch. I relied heavily on my DSLR camera and now want to buy more lenses :). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This above piece was a combination of photographs. The beach background was one I used from one of my sisters holiday snaps. The sea was just what was needed for this piece with the subtle waves in the background. The airbrush creates the blurred out of focus look really effectively and was perfect for this portrait. The two dogs and the pebbles where then all done in colour pencil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
