I have just launched my acrylic tier on Patreon. After launching my pastel tier in February this year I have been really excited to offer painting tutorials too. Painting fur can be a challenge but when breaking down your reference photo into layers and smaller more manageable sections it becomes easier, less daunting to tackle. <\/p>\n

Each week I upload shorter tutorials to YouTube packed with tips and techniques. I try and vary the tutorials between pastels and acrylics so there is something for everyone. <\/p>\n

When painting fur, 90% of the time, I work from dark to light. Building up from what is closest to the skin to the lighter fur that sits on the very top. I find this to be the best method of achieving realistic fur.<\/p>\n

The good thing with acrylics is its one of the most forgiving mediums to work in. If we make a wrong layer or a mistake we don’t like we can cover it over and re work that layer. Aside from spilling something on it or putting a hole through the canvas, anything can be fixed. <\/p>\n
