99% of my year is always filled with pet portraits. I love capturing my clients much loved pets and feel very honored they trusted me to do so. But I always love working on something different and my wildlife art is a chance to do that. I always have a cut off point at the end of December where I wont book pet portraits in. This is usually the end of the 2nd week. Although I send out all my portraits tracked and recorded next day special delivery and they are still guaranteed right up to a few days before Christmas its something I’ve not always been comfortable with. This way I know my clients portraits will get to them in good time. Giving them should they want to, to frame it etc.

So its during this short break before Christmas that I will allocate to wildlife work. I plan a few pieces throughout the year and tweak ideas as I go. I get inspiration from lots of areas but I love watching David Attenboroughs documentaries and often these trigger my creative mind and gives me ideas for subjects I’d like to draw.

Something I would like to introduce in the New Year is limited edition prints of certain wildlife pieces I have planned. I have never offered prints before but am excited to work with my local framer to achieve this in 2020. Exciting times! If prints are of interest please feel free to email me at zara.toms@hotmail.co.uk 🙂
