Black paper & Colour Pencils

My most popular medium that I currently work in is colour pencil. The first time I did a portrait on black paper I only used 3 pencils; 2 greys and a white. I was so happy with the effect it created and instantly loved working with this new paper.

I have since done a few wildlife colour pencil portraits on black paper and have been really pleased when I was asked to do a pet portrait the same way. I have drawn Ratchet a couple of times before but this was my favourite. The outfit, the contrast of his fur against the black paper and that bright pop of colour was so much fun.

I have quite a lot of wildlife ideas I want to do. I am really busy with pet portraits but due to Christmas posting deadline I do have some time over Christmas. I hope I can put these ideas down on paper and maybe canvas 🙂 – very excited for some painting plans!
