And its a Barn Owl!
When driving back from seeing to my horses and sheep, the sun was just setting and across the freshly cropped fields was a stunning Barn Owl. The sun was just setting and I remembered thinking wow what a beautiful animal. We are very fortunate to have such wonderful wildlife here in the UK. I haven’t seen many Barn Owls or Tawny Owls. You always here them especially when we are up with the horses being in the countryside but seeing it was remarkable. I then always wanted to capture this in a painting.
Buzz the Barn Owl
The Barn Owl in my painting is called Buzz. As I have mentioned in my previous blog posts I always try to design my wildlife layouts to create something that is unique and that no other artist has painted. So I have made the background and then as soon as I saw the photograph of Buzz I knew that would fit perfect for this piece.
Buzz was owned by the photographer who took this photograph (Craig Maisfield). He was a very special bird and as you can see so well cared for. He looks pristine.
