I don’t get asked to draw as many cats as I do dogs but when I do I love the change! Capturing the feline expression is something I really enjoyed. Cleo has such a sweet face and the lighting in the reference photo was ideal. She was sat right at the window so that light bouncing off the black fur was a real delight to capture.
This background is definitely one of the most popular. The soft grey with that subtle glow effect in the background seems to work for so many subjects. One of my favourites that’s for sure.
