This portrait has been one that has really been something I could get my teeth into. It required me to approach certain aspects differently such as blending and layering. It did take lots of colours in the correct order to get the individual skin tones. A really light hand to apply the lightest of pastel colour in many areas was the key to getting the skin texture and tones.
This portrait was requested by a good friend of mine. Only ever drawing people in graphite previously this was a whole new challenge and I am so glad I undertook it. I enjoyed working on it far more than I thought and I feel it improved my drawing skills which is a great feeling. I am looking forward to the next people portrait I am asked to do :).
The full time lapse video of this will be uploaded very soon over at my YouTube channel.
