What colour shall I use?

This was my first drawing on the Canson Mi-Teintes Velvet black paper and I was really impressed with how dark it is 😍. I really wanted to focus on capturing high contrast and bright colour saturation for this piece and see just how this paper coped with the layering of the pastel pencils. I couldn't fault this paper for this drawing <3.

With fur textures that are a little more textured, I still prefer to focus on creating a good base foundation first and then build up the finer pencil technique. I find that the base layer still needs that blended, softer appearance otherwise the pencil strokes can look to harsh. ...
