Over a few weekends when I have managed to work some extra hours I decided to do a few smaller studies. Being the run up to Christmas I wanted to do a festive theme and what better subject than the Robin. Creating that cyan blue background with the snow was probably my favourite part. As soon as the snow was added I felt like this pastel portrait was complete. I haven’t been able to share it with you until now because of having to wait for my framer to open again after the recent restrictions. I wanted to pick a double mount so wanted to pick the specific mount colour for that inside layer which I think makes portraits that much more 3D.

I had a lovely reference photo for the Robin but changed the background entirely and added the snow flakes to make it festive seeing as we are on the run up to Christmas 🙂
