Fresh off the easel, my latest graphite portrait is finished =).
When I planned this project I knew I wanted a dark background to make the lighter tones within the Wolf to stand out. I had the idea of a distant forest, misty type effect but knew that I must use many blending techniques to ensure this remained blurry otherwise it could be to distracting.
There are projects which I get really quite attached to. This can be for a number of reasons but in this case I just got completely engrossed in all the fine details and beautiful lighting. With the stronger right sided light source I was able to really hype up the contrast and create a portrait that was unique and one of a kind.
This original Wolf drawing is now heading to my framer to be professionally mounted and then it will be looking for it’s new home.
