Harper is finished

Harper is finished and has been dropped off at my framers to be mounted :). I have LOVED working on her portrait. This is my first attempt in pastels capturing a dog of her stunning colour. I had to use so many pencil colours and many many layers to achieve her rich, vibrant fur colour. She really is stunning. Fox red Labradors are very striking and that colour is what makes them a popular choice...

On the easel at the moment is Charlie. A very handsome Cocker Spaniel who has sat very regal like for his photograph used for this portrait. I always enjoy doing full body portraits and this is no exception. Capturing his pose along with his facial expression seemed best suited for this piece :).
