Finished Portraits

Chloe & Molly Video!

Here is the full time lapse video of the recent pastel drawing of Chloe and Molly. A beautiful pair of Spaniels who I had the absolute pleasure of drawing. https://youtu.be/Al1WY9mvS_8 Music by bensound.com This was an A3 (11.7" x 16.5") size portrait and it worked well for this layout. I did a few different options and the placement and subtle glow background was the preferred option the...

Updating Thumbnails!

I have been busy creating some new video thumbnails. These are mainly for my YouTube channel to make it easier and clearer to navigate and see exactly what you're watching. They are a little time consuming so I tend to make a couple at a time. Nel's close up :D. Click the above thumbnail if you'd like to watch the full time lapse. I have one other video where I have chosen an area of Nel ...

Scooter :)

I was asked to draw Scooter a few years ago. I had the pleasure of photographing him for the portrait. His mum is a friend of mine and it was a pleasure to be asked to capture him for a surprise gift for his dad. A4 (8.3" 11.7") Graphite Drawing Sadly, Scooter is no longer with us. His family miss him dearly but they have many fond memories and now the portrait to cherish forever.

All in the eyes <3

The soul of any portrait from a pastel drawing to acrylic on canvas I always start with the eyes. They are what makes the portrait feel alive and its the main part that I feel makes that pet look like 'Henry' rather than 'a Cavalier King Charles'. Even darker eyes like Henry here there is still so much depth to capture. The subtle colour with the highlight at the very bottom and the bright hi...

Alfie’s close up :D

Three of my favourite brushes I use on all of my paintings. I typically do not use large brushes and the Daler Rowney seem to work well for my needs and techniques. Here there is the flat, round and liner. There is another brush you saw me use on Alfies videos over at my YouTube channel which has a light purple handle and I cannot find that online anywhere. That is the only brush I am precious ab...

New Video!

Last year I was asked to do this portrait of Muppet and Tigger. I had the pleasure of photographing them both for this portrait. This was an A3 pet portrait so I had a nice amount of space for this piece. The pose of them both also fills the page so this layout option worked well. I have lots of videos over on my YouTube channel. Pop across if you'd like to see more :)Click the finished pho...

Muppet & Tigger Video

I really do not like throwing things away.. I'm not a hoarder but when it comes to art supplies I have a real issue chucking anything haha. As it's my job I think that's ok - well it's my excuse anyway :). Over the weekend I had to clear some space on my hardrives and I realised there were a few portraits I completed last year that I didn't get round to making videos of. This A3 colour pencil ...

Meet Cariad <3

Cariad was a surprise gift for my clients mum. Sadly, Cariad passed away shortly after the reference photograph I was asked to used for this piece was taken. Unbelievably she was 22 years old! She had such a young face I honestly thought the photo was taken years previous. There wasn't the ideal level of detail in the reference photograph but it did have a nice level of contrast and her c...
