Cheetah update two..

Using multiple reference photographs to create a unique piece of art is something I take great time in. Getting the balance, composition, lighting - many elements to create something that appears natural takes in many cases days to get right. 10" x 18" pastel portraitAdult cheetah reference by Emmanuel Keller @ Wildlife Reference photosCheetah cub reference by Tazi Brown @ Wildlife Reference ...

Festive Robin..

Over a few weekends when I have managed to work some extra hours I decided to do a few smaller studies. Being the run up to Christmas I wanted to do a festive theme and what better subject than the Robin. Creating that cyan blue background with the snow was probably my favourite part. As soon as the snow was added I felt like this pastel portrait was complete. I haven't been able to share it with...

Cheetah in progress..

New on my easel is this Cheetah pastel portrait :). I had a few requests asking for this incredible animal to be featured on the easel. I have struggled to put my pencils down for this piece. The Rhino and Gorilla are two of my favourites. I had incredible photos to use and being A3 (11.7" x 16.5") I had plenty of space to add lots of detail :D. Both of these portraits were commissioned by a collector so are hung on the...

‘Sumatra’s Rarity’

I have been working on this special acrylic painting in between commissions. It's been a painting I have loved to see come to life and creating the vibrancy and depth of this piece was my aim right from the start. I have loved working on these round canvases and being able to hang then completely flat onto the wall really does make this incredible animal feel more 3D. Original for sale: £295...
