Giraffe is finished!

I am really sorry for not posting the past what was probably a week! I was away for a long weekend break and before going I had scheduled all of my social media posts. For some reason, I couldn't get into my website before I left! So I wasn't able to schedule my blog posts. I shall make up for it and get back to posting here everyday :) So first up is my Giraffe! He is finished and SOLD :D ...

Giraffe real time clip!

As mentioned yesterday, here is a real time video of me working on my current wildlife painting. I have had such fantastic comments and feedback regarding this piece which I am so very grateful for. https://youtu.be/Ynjul5webOg Ref photo: Russ BridgesMusic by bensound This painting has been a real joy. I cannot wait to get him finished. I still have a fair few hours to go and will need to ...

LIONS HAVE SOLD :D

My original acrylic on canvas board has sold! It's heading off to its new home in the USA. A lovely client who had already purchased a colour pencil on black paper portrait I did a couple of years ago is adding this to her collection. I also did portraits of her 5 dogs so she has many pieces now on her wall of mine :D Ref photo Terence Porter I do take wildlife commissions in a variety of ...

Alfie’s close up :D

Three of my favourite brushes I use on all of my paintings. I typically do not use large brushes and the Daler Rowney seem to work well for my needs and techniques. Here there is the flat, round and liner. There is another brush you saw me use on Alfies videos over at my YouTube channel which has a light purple handle and I cannot find that online anywhere. That is the only brush I am precious ab...

Charlie close up

Another of the six lovely dogs on the large acrylic painting I completed a little while ago. Sadly, Charlie is no longer with us. After I had drawn all six of these gorgeous dogs in colour pencils their owner wanted a large canvas painting of them all together. She had one place she wanted the piece to go and wanted a very specific size. This is where I feel very lucky to have a framer who ma...

Alfie’s final video is up!

Click the thumbnail below to watch the last of this three video series :). I have enjoyed making these videos and trying to help as much as I can. I do have a lot of other artists follow me on social media and often get questions on what supplies I am using, techniques and how I approach certain elements. So I hope this video is useful. I would appreciate a thumbs up on the video and any comme...

New help video, break is down :)

I mentioned during Alfie's graphite post that I have decided to break down Alfie's painting into three video. Three stages showing how I layer and tackle the portrait like this. Explaining what materials I am using etc. This video is much slower than my other videos and you can see how I am using the brush and laying the paint down. If these videos are of use I would love to hear in the comments ...

Orangutan video!

My recent Orangutan painting time lapse video is uploaded to my YouTube channel! There were so many hours of footage so this took a little longer to edit together. There is a section mid way through where I took a photo of the painting on my phone but didn't turn off the camera! Pro haha. This took hours to upload! So I didn't want to go back and try and remove it all for a split second :). ...
